   The role of the RUC Benevolent Fund is to provide financial and 

  practical support to ex members of the RUC GC, police  widows,  

  dependants, injured and disabled officers, as well as serving   

  PSNI officers who are experiencing financial hardship or difficulty. In

  all instances a case of need must be identified in line with the rules of

  the Fund.

 

  The Fund also owns and operates eighteen apartments in Portrush

  for the benefit of its ex members, hosts organised outings and

  events throughout the year for widows and is actively involved 

  in supporting the Local Voluntary Welfare Groups.

   

  Serving officers subscribing to the Fund can benefit from the use

  of The Police Treatment Centres in Harrogate and Scotland and

  receive practical help and support if the need arises.

  The role of the DPOANI is to provide support and guidance for its

  membership through a number of activities ranging from

  monthly Away Days and organised holidays to physiological

  and psychological therapies.

 

  Membership is open to all officers who have suffered serious illness

  or injury whilst on duty with the RUC/PSNI or as a result of

  their service. The admission criteria are Injury on Duty assessed

  at 35%, Industrial Injuries 20% and all applicants must

  provide documentary evidence of their injury when applying

  for membership.

   The role of the LVWG is to offer social opportunities and welfare

   support to the ex members, widows and pensioners of the RUC GC

   and PSNI. Many groups organise holidays, outings, social events and

   services for its membership throughout the year. The groups work

   closely with other organisations such as the RUC Benevolent Fund

   and NIPF for the benefit of all it members.

  The role of the NIMF is to introduce and sustain programmes

  that support those who have suffered as a result of the ‘Troubles’

  in Northern Ireland. This support includes grant assistance

  for education and training schemes, chronic pain management,

  small grants for those experiencing financial difficulty, as well

  as providing practical help for individuals with mobility issues.

  The role of the NIPF is to cover all aspects of care for ex-police

  officers and their families in Northern Ireland who have been

  seriously injured by terrorist violence and the widows, children

  and parents of murdered police officers.

 

  NIPF will provide grant assistance to police officers and

  ex-police officers who have been seriously injured or disabled as

  a direct result of terrorist violence and the families of murdered

  police officers.

 

  Amongst the many schemes on offer are: Educational

  Bursaries, Bereavement Support, Respite Breaks for Carers

  and Disability Support. To qualify for assistance applicants should

  be injured ex officers who have been awarded an IOD Band 2

  or above, serving officers who have suffered a serious injury as

  a result of being the direct target of a terrorist attack, or

  widows, children and parents of murdered officers.

  The role of the organisation is ‘Enriching the Lives of Retired

  Police Officers in Northern Ireland’. The Association maintains its

  links with its membership through social/community events,

  trained Family Service visitors, its website and its own

  magazine ‘Reunion’. It also provides Health and Travel

  Insurance Schemes for older members and offers advice

  on bereavement, pensions and allowances, matters affecting

  retirement and liaison with Central/Local Government. Representation

  for Retired Officers with Statutory Bodies is also provided.

  The role of the PDT is to provide assistance to dependants of

  police officers or former police officers who die, or have died as

  a result of an injury received in the execution of duty and also to

  police officers or former police officers who are, or have

  been incapacitated as a result of an injury received in the execution

  of duty or dependants of such officers.

 

  Where need is established the Trust can provide financial help in

  the form of grants for children from the purchase of sports

  equipment through to help for university, holidays for those on

  low income, maintenance for those who fall below a defined

  financial level, and grants for special purposes such as adapting a

  car or home for special needs.

  The role of PRRT is to enable retiring and retired members of the

  police service to achieve and sustain a successful transition into

  civilian life by providing the following integrated services:

  careers guidance and personal development, training, education

  and employment support, physiotherapy and psychological therapies.

 

  The Trust’s services at Maryfield, and in various regional locations,

  are available to Reserve officers, retired officers, serving officers

  who plan to leave their policing career within the next ten years 

  and those who have been, or are in the process of being,

  medically retired.

 

  PRRT have now extended the above services to immediate

  family members of the above groups and civilian support staff

  who wish to self-fund.

  The role of OHW is to improve the health and wellbeing of

  Police Officers and Support Staff through a number of

  programmes from effective health surveillance to physical training.

 

  OHW tackles issues such as Hepatitis B immunisation, screening

  for noise induced hearing loss, development of a Holistic

  Health Promotion Strategy and training in all aspects of the

  Critical Incident Stress Management Programme.

 

  It runs an extensive physiotherapy programme and continues

  to develop protocols for further rehabilitation interventions

  and assisting officers with a medical restriction to return to a full

  range of duties.

  The role of the Foundation is to ‘mark the sacrifices and honour

  the achievements of the Royal Ulster Constabulary’. The

  Foundation manages the RUC GC Garden, liaises with various

  groups and Associations within the RUC family, arranges RUC GC

  Day events and supports the professional development of

  police officers and innovations in policing through bursaries

  and funding research.

  The role of the Association is to provide mutual support for the

  parents of RUC Officers who have been murdered as a direct result
